Transformation Begins with YOU

CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital has a long history of supporting United Way through an employee campaign. Thousands of Kearney area residents are impacted in some way by United Way and its partner agencies every year. Your contribution to United Way through an employee campaign has helped transform people's lives.

Youth Opportunity Begins with YOU

  • Over 800 coats will be distributed to children in October.
  • Children who are victims of abuse or neglect experience support from agencies such as Compass, Family Advocacy Network or CASA.
  • Girls in KCLC programs at Emerson, Central, Northeast, Bryant and Kenwood are able to participate in Girl Scouts for free through funding from United Way.
  • Many children prepare for Kindergarten and academic success through programming at Head Start.
  • Approximately 50 children receive scholarships to participate in extra-curricular activities such as Loper Launch, swimming, or sports through United Way every year.
  • Children in low income neighborhoods access free books from United Way's Free Little Libraries.
  • Students in elementary programs have access to mentors through the Friends Program. The Friends Program hopes to increase its number of adult mentors.

 

Financial Security Begins with YOU

  • Families receive economic assistance in times of need through Jubilee Center, Salvation Army and Homeless Prevention.
  • RAFT helps families who are homeless transition into successful living situations by teaching financial management, mental health and health supports, home care, and so much more over the course of 2 years.
  • United Way partners with the Post Office for the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Annually this provides 3500lbs of food for local food pantries. 
  • United Way sponsors 4 local Little Free Pantries to provide sundry pantry items to individuals. These are located in readily accessible areas for low income people to visit at any time of the day without any barriers.

 

Healthy Community Begins with YOU

  • Collage has seen a significant increase in STD testing.
  • Uninsured individuals can access immunizations and health care through the Immunization Clinic and HelpCare Clinic. 
  • Hundreds of senior citizens receive food boxes through Commodities Supplemental Food Program with the assistance of United Way funds. 
  • Senior Citizens enjoy socialization and a home-cooked meal at the Minden Senior Center daily Monday through Friday. 
  • Uninsured and underinsured individuals can receive free and reduced mental health services from Compass.
  • Family Advocacy Network provides hair and nail testing to drug exposed children.
  • United Way hosts a free Mental Health Movie Night to help parents talk about mental health with their children.
